2015 - 2017 High Dynamic Range video coding solution
Take part in the French collaborative project “4EVER-2”, which is the extension to “4EVER”. The project “4EVER-2” was designed to advance French research on standardization of both the HEVC video encoding technology and the UDH-TV format definition.
My research focuses on the High Dynamic Range (HDR) video coding solution. After an analysis of the Electro-Optical Transfer Function (EOTF) of HDR display, I proposed two adaptive quantization algorithms. These algorithms aim to preserve the contrast
information of the HDR content with integer representation. They are also applied to video coding to serve the storage and transmission of the HDR content.
2011-2015 A low-complexity lossless image codec
Proposed a low-complexity scalable lossless image compression method. Comparing to JPEG2000, my proposal achieves an equivalent coding efficiency with shorter coding latency. Besides, this coding method
can support the multi-resolution representation and is friendly to the implementation in software and hardware.
A Rate-Distortion-Optimization (RDO) scheme on a locally adaptive resolution codec
Designed a Rate-Distortion-Optimization (RDO) scheme on a locally adaptive resolution codec for the lossy image compression. This scheme helps the codec to configure its parameters automatically in order
to achieve an optimal coding efficiency. With this RDO scheme, a Quality Control (QC) model is proposed to complete an objective quality constraint function. This function constrains the distortion of the
decoded image to a target value approximately. Besides, the perceptual quality of the decoded image is improved with a local application of the RDO scheme.
